In the late 1990's, the Knights of Columbus, for
multiple reasons, were considering the termination of
their age-old youth baseball program. At the time, the
program consisted of approximately 350 youths.
T&J Land Co., L.L.C., d/b/a SportZone, was formed for
the purpose of salvaging the youth baseball program.
The owners of T&J felt that the youth baseball program
was a unique alternative in a unique setting.
Specifically, the Knights of Columbus program was
committed to a family atmosphere and a positive learning
experience without the emphasis of "winning at all
cost." Furthermore, the baseball fields being
surrounded by trees and wildlife gave one the feeling of
being isolated from the urban area.
Slowly, the T&J operation expanded in an effort to
afford more youths a positive sport/family experience.
T&J now offers multiple youth sports in a nonprofit
operation. These include not only baseball but tackle
and flag football, indoor and outdoor soccer,
volleyball, basketball, summer camps and other
activities.
